Funeral Mass for Celia R. Thebert, 89, formally of Jefferson Avenue Massena will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at St. Mary's Church, Massena. Visiting Hours will be on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ft. Covington following the mass. Celia died on Friday, July 15, 2011 at the St. Regis Nursing Home, Massena.
She is survived by two daughters, Celia (John) Poupore of Syracuse and Mary Jane Blow of Massena; three sons, James (Joyce) LaBaff of Massena, Joseph (Theresa) Labaff of Massena and Leo [Darlene (Sue) LaBaff of Massena; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Among them is a niece Jean Cousineau that Celia mentored. Celia was predeceased by two brothers, Eli and Leo Dishaw; along with a half brother, Ernest Dishaw.
She was born on July 2, 1922 the daughter of Theodore and Alexina LeGrow Dishaw. She attended Massena and Norfolk Schools. Celia married James Charles LaBaff November 5, 1942 in The Church of the Sacred Heart by Father Holland. James predeceased her January 21,1971. She also married William Thebert December 22, 1973 in St. Mary's Church by Rev. Ivan Boyea. William died February 6, 1996. Celia resided in Massena and worked at Cap's Inn for many years until it closed. She than moved to Dover Plains, NY and worked at the MICA Plant laminating tables for 20 years until it closed.
