Catherine M. Richards, age 98, formerly of Brushton and currently residing at Maplewoods North Nursing Home, Canton, passed away on January 6, 2012 at the Nursing Home.
She was born in Moira, on August, 29, 1913 the daughter of the late Levi and Ruby (Thomas) Russell. She attended country school in Moira. Catherine was united in marriage on May 14, 1932 in St. Regis Falls to Dewey Richards and he predeceased her in 1974.
Catherine was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of their Dairy Farm.
In her free time, Mrs. Richards enjoyed playing bingo and card playing. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Brushton.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Faye Richards of Altoona, PA and Susan Cameron of Potsdam; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Dewey Richards; two grandchildren, Kim Schumaan and Michael Griffin and one great-grandchild, Nicole Davis.
Friends are invited to call at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira, NY on Monday, January 9, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. with the Funeral service to follow calling hours with Rev. Christopher Looby officiating. Burial will take place in Sandhill Cemetery, Dickinson, NY. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society in Catherine’s memory.
