A graveside service for Ms. Carmela Bellardini, formerly of Potsdam will be held in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Potsdam. Ms. Bellardini passed away Sunday night (January, 10, 2021) at Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Massena.
She is survived by her son, David Willer of Norwood; grandchildren Jonathan Willer, Sarah (Calvin) Hardy, and Alexandra (Jay) Brown; great grandchildren Oliver Hardy, Leah Hardy and Myles Brown (born January 8, 2020); nieces Sharman Smutz and Drucille Wellings; and a nephew, Mark Bellardini.
Ms. Bellardini was predeceased by her brothers, Carmen and Nazarine Bellardini; and a sister, Lucy (Charles) Tuthill.
Carmela was born in Ogdensburg, to the late Magno and Margherita (Morgia) Bellardini. She graduated from Potsdam High School and continued her education at SUNY Potsdam, ultimately obtaining a Master’s degree in Education. Ms. Bellardini then began her career as an elementary school teacher, working in Utica, Gouverneur, and Norfolk. She retired in 1991 after working decades in the public education system.
Carmela was a member of the New York State United Teachers and enjoyed travelling around the country, reading and spending time with her family.
