WADDINGTON – A memorial service for Calvin R. Simmons, 85, of Waddington and Bradenton, Fla., will be held at noon Aug. 1 at Waddington Presbyterian church, with Mary Ellen Frackenpohl officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the Waddington American Legion Hall.
Mr. Simmons passed away June 10, 2010 at the Kindred Hospital in Boston after a long illness.
Born and raised in Gloversville, N.Y., he graduated from Gloversville High School, Union College Class of 1945 and received his master’s in Engineering from RPI.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was the past President of the Waddington Hepburn “Friends of the Library,” a member of the Waddington Presbyterian Church Board, a former member of the Waddington Town Planning Commission, a member of the board of the Moore Museum in Waddington, a member of the Canton, Golden Aires Barber Shop Quartet and a member of the Mason’s Lodge in Gloversville.
Loving husband of the late Helen M. (Roy), he is survived by his beloved partner, Hazel M. Fox. His children, Deborah Nadkarni-Simmons & her husband Sanjay of Louisville, Colo., Rebecca Simmons & her husband John Rudy of Rochester, Calvin R. “Bob” Simmons & his wife Kelly of Cicero, & Margaret Simmons-Cross & her husband Glen Cross of Milpitas, Calif. Step-father of Gary Fox & his wife Ellen of Sharon, Susan Fox of Alaska, Richard Fox & his wife Cheryl of Fenton, Mo. Grandfather of Sarita, Kasey, Hannah, Graham, Harrison, Daniel, Elizabeth & Brendan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Margaret Backus of Lisbon, and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces & nephews.
