A private memorial service will be held for Bernard F. O'Neill at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday (December 22, 2010) at the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena with Father Micheal Gaffney officiating. There will no calling hours. Bernard passed away Saturday (December 18, 2010) at the Massena Memorial Hospital.
Surviving Bernard are his loving wife Anita; a brother, Raymond of Massena; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis O'Neill of Massena and Solweig O'Neill of Motezing, Germany; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; and by his beloved yorkie, Tracker Too.
Bernard was predeceased by two brothers, Jack and Charles; along with his mother and father Mary and John.
Bernard was born in Massena July 28, 1934 the son of John L. and Mary Crowley O'Neill. He graduated from Massena High School and also received an associate’s degree from Canton ATC in tool design. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. Bernard married Anita Elman June 26, 1976 at Scred Heart Church, Massena. He worked at General Dynamics and then went to work for ALCOA as an electrician until his retirement after 30 years of employment. Bernard loved to farm and work with and on his tractors.
