Bernard A. "Bernie" Phelix, 61 of Ruther Glen, Va., originally of Norfolk, N.Y., died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 in Fredericksburg.
Bernie served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
He was a truck driver for Pratt Industries and retired in 2008.
He was a member of Wrights Chapel United Methodist Church and a resident of Lake Caroline.
Survivors include his wife, Louise W. Phelix; his mother, Agnes Phelix of New York; two sons, Jake Phelix and his wife Amy of Ruther Glen and Tom Phelix and his wife Hillary of Richmond; two brothers, Art Phelix Jr. of New York and Ron Phelix and his wife Pat of Indiana; and six grandchildren, Phillip, Miranda, Gabrielle, Aaron, Alex and Hailey.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Phelix and his brother, Paul Phelix.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. in Wrights Chapel, Ladysmith, Va.
