Barbara Ann Butler, age 76, of Gouverneur, passed away on September 23, 2011 at home under the care of her loving family and Hospice.
Calling hours will be at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 10 - 11 a.m. Her funeral will follow on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastors Lola Moore and Debra Reed officiating. Burial will be in the East Riverside Cemetery.
Barbara was born on June 20, 1935 in Russell, to the late Madison Monroe and Blanche (Durham) Fifield. She graduated from Knox Memorial High School and attended the Ogdensburg School of Commerce. She married Mahlon “Snowball” Butler on January 15, 1954 at the Edwards Methodist Church.
Barbara was a member of the Rock Island Assembly of God and was a Sunday school teacher there, leading “Kid Crusades’, and was the former President of “Aglow”.
Her survivors include her husband; a daughter, Linda Felder of Gouverneur; three sons, Mahlon “Tracy” and Janet Butler of Pittsburgh, KS, David Carl Butler of Gouverneur and Sterling D. Butler and his companion Jamie of Gouverneur. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her brother, Junior Madison Fifield; three stepbrothers and two sisters, Thelma Ordway and Keitha Durham.
