Anita B. Marsh, age 83, of Hailesboro, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at her home under St. Lawrence Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and her loving family.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 23rd from 12:00 noon-8:00 p.m. at the family home on 190 Main St. Hailesboro. Her funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 30th at the St. James Catholic Church with Father Stephen Rocker officiating.
Anita was born on November 7, 1927 in Massena, to Manuel G. and Nancy (Rowe) Gaumes. She attended school in Talcville. Anita married Joel E. Marsh on February 6, 1943 at the St. James Catholic Church in Gouverneur. Joel passed away on February 13, 1995.
Anita was a homemaker. She was a member of the Gouverneur VFW, where she volunteered working at their dinners. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and spending time with her family. She also loved dancing and was a member of the Black River Fiddlers.
Anita is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Barbara A. and Wilfred Paro of Butner, NC, Phyllis M. and Rory O’Neill of Hailesboro and Nancy M. and Jerry Dyer of Deltona, FL; a son, Joel B. Marsh of Solvay; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Donna Gaumes of Fowler; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lillian Law of Oswegatchie and Georgianna and Howard Rice of Marion; a sister-in-law, Joanne Gaumes of Gouverneur; and 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was predeceased by a brother, Manuel Gaumes; and a sister, Anna Marsh.
