NORFOLK — Andrew Blaine Haas, 29, of 3 River Road, Apt. 3, Norfolk, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning in his sleep at his residence in Norfolk.
Born Feb. 8, 1982, in Watertown, the son of Eric B. and Tammy M. Hall Haas, he graduated in 2000 from Carthage Central High School.
He attended Jefferson Community College and received an art scholarship to study art in Italy. While there he developed his passion for cooking. He returned and later graduated with a bachelor's degree from SUNY Potsdam in 2004 where he majored in history.
He currently was a chef at Al Smith’s Pizzeria in Norfolk and Sergi’s Restaurant in Potsdam.
He enjoyed hiking the Adirondacks, camping and cooking.
Surviving are his parents, Eric and Tammy Haas, Natural Bridge; a brother, Benjamin A. Haas, Cazenovia; his companion, Kristina A. Damann, Norfolk; his paternal grandparents, Hobert and Iva Haas, West Carthage; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage, with Rev. Frances Hemstreet, officiating. Spring burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Natural Bridge. Calling hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday prior to the funeral service.
