Funeral services for Allen J. O’Marah, 58, of North Road, Lisbon, will be held Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Mr. O’Marah passed away on Sunday, July 3, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Mr. O’Marah is survived by his wife, Arlene; one daughter, Tisha Lynn; his mother, Lucinda (Cindy) and his stepfather, Ron Johnson; two step-children, Wade and Stephanie Powers; two grandchildren, Chase and Logan; one brother, Leslie and his wife, Darlene; two sisters, Mary Hannah Conant and her husband, Ron, and Arlene Kiah and her husband, Danny; nephews, James, Cody, and Joey; two nieces, Missy and Erin; great niece, Peighton Ruby; and great nephew, Kaleb Mikhail. He was predeceased by his father, Allen, in 1970.
Mr. O’Marah was born on February 4, 1953, in Ogdensburg, the son of Allen and Cindy Rheome O’Marah. He graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1972. He married Arlene Logan on October 20, 1973, at the Presbyterian Church in Lisbon with Rev. Bud Skiff officiating. He worked for Spencer Merry running the Riding Academy. Later he worked for Shade Roller company for a short time. He then was also employed by the Ogdensburg Police Department for 35 years as a dispatcher. He showed horses in Canada and in Syracuse at the State Fair where he won many honors. Bass fishing was his passion and he was co-founder of NY Bass Masters Team Trail. He also loved to hunt.
