Alexander “Alex” Henry Bush, age 85, of Oswegatchie Trail Road, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2010 at his home where he was under the care of his family.
Calling hours will be at French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake, on Tuesday, December 14th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. His funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Philip Giardino officiating. Burial will be in the Oswegatchie Cemetery.
Alex was born on October 15, 1925 in the town of Fine. He was one of thirteen children born to the late John and Sarah “Ella” (Bebee) Bush. He attended the Oswegatchie Union High School and has lived in Oswegatchie all of his life.
Mr. Bush retired in 1985 from the Newton Falls Paper Mill where he worked for 43 years in shipping at the loading docks. He had previously worked for the railroad in his younger years. Alex was always there to help and support his brothers and sisters. After his father passed away, Alex helped provide for them and raise them. He enjoyed his work, his home life, and listening to country western music.
His survivors include five brothers, John of Gouverneur, Nelson and Richard of Star Lake, Earl and his wife, Kim, and Frances, all of Oswegatchie; and two sisters and their husbands, Mary and Bucky Boyea and Doris and Elisha Hubbard, all of Oswegatchie. Alex is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Jane Paro, Myrtle Gotham; and three brothers, William “Stewart”, George “Robert” and Clifford.
