Funeral services for Alan P. Recore, age 62 of Ogdensburg, will be held on Tuesday (January 10, 2012) at 11:00am at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Notre Dame Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mr. Recore passed away at his home on Thursday (January 5, 2012).
Surviving is his mother Shirley Recore of Ogdensburg; four sons Mark Ramsey, Nicholas Recore & William Ramsey of Ogdensburg, Paul Ramsey of Saugerties; two daughters Pauline Ramsey of Plattsburgh and Christina Ramsey of Ogdensburg; two sisters Christina Lintz & her husband John of Bradenton, FL and Maryland LaRue & her husband Gary of Ogdensburg; a brother Paul Recore of Ogdensburg; three grandchildren Jace Belvedere, Ryan Ramsey and Zachary Grant.
Alan was born on November 23, 1949 in Ogdensburg, NY a son of Paul & Shirley Recore. He attended Maravista High School in California, and enlisted in the US Army on May 20, 1968 where he operated as a combat engineer until May 19, 1974 when he was honorably discharged. He married Angela Fisher on November 21, 1993 which later ended in divorce.
He worked as a cook early in his career until he became a laborer in a wire mill in Virginia. In 1981 he relocated to Ogdensburg where he then worked at Woodcrest Dairy for several years, and then transferred to Acco International where he was a security officer until he retired.
Alan was the Past Commander of the American Legion, an active member of both the Legion and Am Vets in Ogdensburg, and the Senior Coordinator for the DAV. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in his spare time, and will be remembered for his good sense of humor.
