Potsdam Streetscape, Riverwalk project to have environmental site work

POTSDAM — An environmental site assessment will be done for Fall Island Park for its inclusion into the village’s DRI-funded Downtown Streetscape and Riverwalk Trail project.
At their meeting Monday, May 15, the village board approved a proposal from KAS Environmental Science and Engineering for the preparation of a Phase 1 environmental site assessment of the park.

Dozens of volunteers turn out for clean up at Union Cemetery in Waddington

WADDINGTON — A clean up day was held Saturday, May 13 at the Union Cemetery in Waddington for the upcoming Patriot Marker Ceremony made possible by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation to honor 3 Revolutionary War Soldiers buried there.
Girl Scout Troop 50031 Madrid-Waddington Juniors helped clean the stone of one of these patriots.
Boy Scout Troop 9 from Heuvelton helped clean up brush, raked up fallen limbs and filled in holes with dirt.

Falls Fest set Saturday in Rensselaer Falls

RENSSELAER FALLS – A Falls Fest Fundraiser and Yard Sale will take place Saturday, May 20, from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. at Pioneer Park. Family fun games will include cornhole and Texas horseshoe. Tunes will be played all day, with Jaynie Trudell at 2-5 p.m.
Food will be available from Rensselaer Falls Fire Dept. 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m., and Nibbles Snackery and The Falls Festival Concessions will be 1-7 p.m.
The events will benefit the Rensselaer Falls Historical Society and The Falls Festival on Sept. 8-9.

Grayson’s woodworking utilizes the techniques of steam bending local hardwoods using forms, along with detail inlays and wood turning to create each of his one-of-a-kind pieces.
