Darcy (Cunningham) Larock and Arnold Larock Jr. of Ogdensburg are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Krista Rae Larock to Matthew John Strader, both of Potsdam.
The groom is the son of Victoria Strader of Parishville, and Leon Wayne and Hope Strader of Hannawa Falls.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy and a 2010 graduate of SUNY Potsdam. She will graduate in May 2011 from Clarkson University with her M.B.A.
She is employed by Fused Solutions, Potsdam, and as a graduate assistant at Clarkson University.
Thomas W. Hazeltine, 68, Canton

Thomas W. Hazeltine, 68, of Canton, and Andover, passed away Sept. 4, 2010, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born in Rutland Aug. 1, 1942, the son of Clark W. and Elizabeth (Thomas) Hazeltine.
He graduated from Chester High School in 1960 and Vermont Technical College in 1962.
Mr. Hazeltine was a "jack of all trades" and retired from truck driving in 2006 when he moved to Colton, to take care of his daughter's farm. Most recently, he enjoyed working part time for Meals on Wheels of St. Lawrence County.
Raymond Charles Colton, Sr, 78, formerly of Clare

Raymond Charles Colton Sr, 78, beloved husband of Marie Irma passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, August 31.
Raymond was born in Clare, the son of the late Worth & Evelyn Weston Colton. He had lived in Enfield for almost 25 years until moving to Somers where he had resided for the last 28 years.
Raymond worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft until 1979 when he founded his own company: Colton Associates of Chicopee, Massachusetts. Raymond’s generous, thoughtful, compassionate, and loving personality will be deeply missed by all, his family and business associates.
Catherine (Cathy) Marsh, 58, Winthrop

Catherine (Cathy) Marsh passed away at home on September 4 in the company of her loving family, peacefully ending her sudden battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Ogdensburg on August 26, 1952, she grew up in Potsdam attending school there as well, graduating in 1971. She then married the love of her life shortly after graduation, on July 3, 1971.
She spent a great deal of her time later in life working at St. Lawrence Central School, with children as a special education school bus monitor, cafeteria work, and dispatching.
Metaphysically Speaking meets Sept. 11 at Massena Library

MASSENA – The metaphysical discussion group "Metaphysically Speaking" will meet on Saturday, Sept. 11, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Massena Public Library.
The topic of the meeting will be an energy psychology technique called “Be Set Free Fast.”

Waddington Figure Skating Club bottle drive set for Sept. 11

WADDINGTON – The Waddington Figure Skating Club will be hold a bottle drive on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Waddington Town Barns from 9 a.m. to noon.
With prices continuing to climb for ice time and materials, the proceeds of this bottle drive will help offset these cost increases and allow participants to continue to improve their skills.

Massena, Ogdensburg teachers attend climate change education curriculum workshop at Clarkson

POTSDAM -- Teachers from Massena and Ogdensburg were among those who recently attended a Project-Based Global Climate Change Education Curriculum Development workshop at Clarkson University.
The two-week institute for middle- and high-school teachers focused on the fundamentals of climate science and the use of NASA and other earth science data to explore the extent and consequences of climate changes both locally and globally.

A memorial service for 94 year old Lucy G. Earle of 69 Lawrence Avenue, Potsdam and formerly of 135 Highway 72 Potsdam will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Garner Funeral Home with Msgr. John R. Murphy celebrant at 1 p.m. Burial will follow the service at the Hermon Cemetery. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Home in Potsdam, on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.
