Ogdensburg AmVets working to bring Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall to city

OGDENSBURG – AmVets Post 19 is hoping to bring the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall to the city.
Already, members are planning a jamboree to help raise the $12,000 needed, and members say they have raised half of the money needed, according to Dianna Solomon.
Meanwhile, a jamboree will be held at the AmVets Post on Saturday, Feb. 26 starting at 1 p.m. to raise money to bring the wall to Ogdensburg. Lots of bands, a silent auction, 50-50's and food are planned.

A Mass of Resurrection for John D. Warriner, 44, of Massena, will be held on Wednesday (December 1, 2010) 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, Massena with the Rev. J. Michael Gaffney presiding. Friends and family may be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family. John died unexpectedly on November 26, 2010 at the Massena Memorial Hospital emergency room.

Funeral services for 44 year Mrs. Kandy L. Foster will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Garner Funeral Service with Rev. Lee Sweeney officiating. Burial will follow the service at the West Stockholm Cemetery. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Joseph A. Greco, 77, Massena

Funeral services with full military honors for Jospeh A. Greco, 77, of Martin St. Massena will be held on Wednesday December 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary's Church. Friends and family may be received in Tuesday November 30, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at Phillips Memorial Home, 64 Andrews St. Massena.
The Massena Exempt Fireman will come as a group on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Joe passed away on November 26, 2010 at the home of his daughter.

Potsdam, NY – Senior goaltender Lauren Dahm (Baldwinsville, NY) made 25 saves for her first shutout of the season and the 20th of her career as the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team halted a three-game winless streak with a 4-0 blanking of the University of Vermont in front of 108 fans Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena.

Quad Town Lions honor three at recent meeting

BRASHER FALLS -- At a dinner held in the old Booth Building at Crapser Hall, the Quad Town Lions Club (Brasher, Stockholm, Lawrence and Hopkinton) recently presented two very important Robert J. Uplinger Awards to two very deserving people.
Recipients were Chad Bell of PrimaBella’s, for all he has done for the community, and Lion Faye Bordeleau, the Quad Town Lions Club Secretary of six years, who has done above and beyond the realms of her job.

Donations being accepted for West Potsdam memory tree; lighting on Dec. 12

WEST POTSDAM – The West Potsdam First Responders are accepting donations again this year for their memory tree, located at the intersection of county routes 35 and 34. Canton Chamber sponsoring annual holiday decorating contest

MASSENA – The Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring its annual Holiday Decorating Contest.
To enter a house, call the chamber at 769-3525 and provide your name, address and phone number before noon on Thursday, Dec. 2.
Displays need to be lit for judging after 5 p.m. Dec. 5 through 7.
Winners will be contacted and honored during the December Massena Chamber Business After Hours on Thursday, Dec. 16, location and time to be announced.
