CANTON -- St. Lawrence NYSARC’s 30th Annual Fund Raiser drawing on Friday, Nov. 12, at the Best Western, features over 30 prizes, including a grand prize of $10,000!
The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the certificate drawing will begin at 7 p.m. The event is hosted by WWNY-TV’s 7News This Morning and “7News at Noon anchor, Jeff Cole.
The event is free and open to the public. Sponsors for the event include: Rose and Kiernan, Inc., Community Bank, Team Blevins, Tracy’s Used Cars, and Key Bank.

Owens claims endorsement by Bill O'Reilly; Doheny says it's a lie

A news release from Matt Doheny's campaign is saying that Democrat Bill Owens' "lied" when he said that Fox News personality Bill O'Reilly has endorsed him in his bid to keep his seat in Congress.
"Bill Owens needs to admit he lied and retract his comments that he has been endorsed by Bill O’Reilly and explain why his strategy for re-election has been misrepresenting Matt Doheny and his successful career," Doheny spokesperson Alison Power said.
"It’s time for Bill Owens to talk about the issues and stop lying,” she concluded.

Fall bazaar, cabbage roll sale at Norfolk's Church of the Visitation Oct. 30

NORFOLK – A fall bazaar will be held at the Church of the Visitation, Saturday, Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the parish center, Morris Street.
The event, which includes a cabbage roll sale, country store, candy, handmade crafts, attic table and religious articles, will benefit the Altar Rosary Society.
A luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Annual lighted pumpkin contest, display in Waddington Saturday

WADDINGTON – A lighted pumpkin contest will be held Saturday, Oct. 30 at the Waddington Town Hall Square.
As the pumpkins arrive, they are arranged into one of the largest lighted pumpkin displays in New York State.
Over the years, entries have included snowmen, spiders, ghosts, dogs, deer, fish, and more.
People may bring as many pumpkins as they want. Prizes will be awarded.
Contest Rules:
1. Pumpkins must be carved, painted or decorated. No need for candles.

Tracy L. Cook, the daughter of Laura M. Revier and Earl W. Cook of Norwood, was united in marriage with Dale McComber of Raymondville, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Orville (Alice Wilkins) McComber, July 31, 2010 with Rev. Judy VanKennen officiating.
Mrs. McComber’s maid of honor was Erin McComber, daughter of the groom. MaKenzie and Karen Villnave, granddaughters of the groom, were flower girls.
The best man was Tracy Martin. Joshua Cook, nephew of the bride, was usher. Tyler Villnave, grandson of the groom, was ring bearer.
Aubertine says he answered AARP's questions and Ritchie did not; Ritchie says she did

State Sen. Darrel Aubertine’s campaign is pointing out that, while their candidate answered a questionnaire from the American Association of Retired Persons and agreed with most of the senior-citizen’s organization’s positions, his opponent in the 48th Senate District, Patty Ritchie, did not respond to AARP’s questions.
Ritchie's campaign says she did answer the questions on the AARP survey, but say their efforts to find out why they have not appeared on the web site were unsuccessful Wednesday.

County Board of Elections sets extra hours for absentee ballot pickup

People who wish to vote by absentee ballot can take advantage of extra hours at the St. Lawrence County Board of Elections, in the building next to the county courthouse in Canton.
The board's offices will be open late, until 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 30, to issue absentee ballots.
Nov. 1 is the last day to deliver an absentee ballot application or apply in person for an absentee ballot for the General Election.
