15th annual Parishville Fire Department rabbit hunt Feb. 5

PARISHVILLE – The 15th annual Parishville Fire Department rabbit hunt takes place Saturday, Feb. 5 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Over $6,000 worth of guns and prizes will be awarded, including 20 guns randomly drawn from qualifying hunters. Entry fee is $20 per person.
Registration is from 6 a.m. to noon at the Parishville Firemen’s Field Hall.
Pre-registration will take place Jan. 28 through Feb. 4 at the Parishville Kunoco Food Mart, Village Market in West Stockholm and at Northwood Outfitters in Potsdam.

Up to 16 inches of snow predicted Wednesday in St. Lawrence County

The area may have dodged two recent major snow storms, but it would appear our luck is up.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch, which stays in effect Tuesday evening through late Wednesday night in the North Country.
The storm, which is already blasting the Midwest, promises to bring heavy snow to the region, perhaps 8 to 16 inches, according to NWS.
They predict the snow will begin late Tuesday night and end early Thursday morning.
The heaviest snow will fall during the daytime hours on Wednesday.

Open mic night Feb. 1 in Potsdam could include musicians, poets, dancers

POTSDAM -- An open mic event will be held Tuesday, Feb. 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Tile Company, 6 Raymond St. (just off Market St., before you get to the Cactus Grill.)
Musicians, poets, dancers, comedians, all performers welcome.
The hat will be passed and proceeds will be distributed to the participating performers.

Sno-Skippers Snowmobile Club plans 'fun run' to Childwold Feb. 5

SOUTH COLTON – The Sno-Skippers Snowmobile Club’s third annual Fun Run will take snowsledders on a tour of the southern part of St. Lawrence County on Feb. 5.
If you would like to go along, registration is at the Sno-Skippers Clubhouse on Cold Brook Drive from 8 to 11 a.m.
The fee is $10 per sled, plus $5 for a rider. Maps will be available for the run to Cranberry Lake Lodge and the Windfall Bar and Grill, and to the BackWoods Inn in Childwold.

Ogdensburg's Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center completes first year of wage incentive plan for employees

OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center has completed the first year of its of Success Sharing Program, a wage incentive plan established in early 2010.
Sharing in the financial success of the organization, employees were eligible to receive a bonus of half a percent of their hourly wages above and beyond the annual wage increase.

Stephen Job of Massena is among 1,507 students who earned Dean's List honors for the fall 2010 semester at SUNY Oneonta. To qualify for the Dean's List, undergraduate students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while carrying a course load of 12 semester hours or more.
