Troopers say 63 guns reported stolen in St. Lawrence County last year, 31 recovered

St. Lawrence County led the region in gun thefts in 2010, with 63 guns of assorted varieties reported stolen last year, according to state police.
Slightly less than half of them, 31, were reportedly recovered so far, police said.
Troopers say that most of the guns stolen in St. Lawrence County, 36 of them, were taken in three residential burglaries.

LEAH Moms' Breakast & Book Sale Saturday in Lisbon

LISBON – The annual LEAH Moms' Breakfast and Book/Curriculum Sale will be held Saturday, Feb. 5, starting at 8 a.m. at the Lisbon Reformed Presbyterian Church (corner Cemetery & Tuck Rd.)
Past, present or future homeschooling moms, or anyone interested in homeschooling are encouraged to attend. The LEAH library has been disbanded and all the contents will be sold. Most items are $.50 to $5.
All proceeds will go to HSLDA's mercy fund, which makes grants to widows, families who lose curriculum/property in natural disasters, etc.

World championship carp tourney on St. Lawrence drawing entries from around the world for $30K top prize

MASSENA -- Ray Scott, founder of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (BASS) and called the father of modern bass fishing, is celebrity guest at the 2011 Carp Angling World Championship to be held on the St. Lawrence River Sept. 24-30, hosted by the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.
This is a serious competition, with a registration fee of $2,500 for each team pair, and a top prize of $30,000.
