PSATs in Canton on Wednesday

CANTON -- PSATs will be given at Canton Central School on Wednesday, Oct. 13 from 8 to 11 a.m. Students may sign up in the Guidance Office by bringing cash or a check for $13 made out to Canton Central School by Oct. 8.
All juniors considering college should take the test. Freshman and sophomores wanting to gain experience with the test may be allowed to sign up on a limited basis.

Swedish crime thriller “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” at Cinema 10 Monday night

POTSDAM – Cinema 10 continues its fall 2010 season on Monday, Oct. 4 with a showing of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” or “Män som hatar kvinnor,” a 2009 Swedish crime thriller.
The film is based on a popular crime novel of the same name.
The story centers on a disgraced journalist, Mikael Blomkvist, sentenced to prison after losing a libel case brought against him by a powerful industrialist.

Last of Italian Night dinners at Parishville FD on Oct. 4

PARISHVILLE -- The Parishville Fire Department Auxiliary's monthly Italian Night Dinners, held on the first Monday of the month, will finish up for the year with the dinner Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Parishville Firemen’s Hall.
Menu will include: spaghetti, lasagna, meatballs, sausage, bread, salad, beverages and homemade desserts.
Prices are $7, adults; $6, senior citizens and 6 to 12 years; 5 years and under, free. Takeouts will be available.
The dinners will resume, as usual, in April.

John G. Boyden, Sr., 96, of Stillman Drive, died October 2, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton with Mother Evette Austin officiating. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Canton at the convenience of the family.

Canton Central to honor individuals, teams at Athletic Hall of Fame

CANTON -- Canton’s Williams High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame celebrates individual athletes, a basketball team, a longtime coach, and a longtime supporter at induction ceremonies Saturday, Oct. 9.
The ceremony starts at 5 p.m. in the school auditorium.
Other Canton standouts from the past will also be at the school earlier that day to participate in open basketball and wrestling clinics.

POTSDAM -- Clarkson University invites North Country physician assistants to an open house on Wednesday, Oct. 6, in celebration of National PA (Physician Assistant) Week. The event takes place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Clarkson Hall on Clarkson's downtown campus.
