Myrtle Mae Graves, age 86, of Hannawa Falls, passed away on Thursday, November 03, 2011 at her residence in the town of Pierrepont while under the care of her family and the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley. Arrangements are incomplete with the Garner Funeral Service in Potsdam.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton with Pastor Donna Doig officiating. A time of food and fellowship will follow at the Best Western Inn in Canton.

State PEF approves contract, averts layoff of 3,500 members from NYS jobs

By a count of 27,718 to 11,645, members of the New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF) ratified a revised four-year agreement with the state that averts significant layoffs.
The union, the state's second-largest public employee bargaining unit, said the ratification of the new agreement saves the jobs of 3,496 PEF members and preserves the services members provide.

WASHINGTON -- Engineering, maintenance, and procurement staff from Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation operations at Massena were honored at the 44th Annual Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary’s Award Ceremony Thursday in Washington.
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood recognized employees and teams who have performed in an exemplary manner to meet the department’s goals and mission.
