Louisville celebrates bicentennial with parade, music, fireworks, family picnic Aug. 13-15
LOUISVILLE – This community will celebrate the 200th anniversary of its founding Aug. 13 to 15, with a slate of bicentennial events including a parade, firemen’s races, music, fireworks, and a family picnic at the beach.
Louisville Bicentennial weekend begins Friday, Aug. 13 with a 6 p.m. ice cream social at Louisville Fire Station #1 and the annual Duck Race.
Lisbon Livestock music fest features tenting, three days of performers Aug. 13-15
LISBON – Plan to pitch your tents and take in a variety of local bands at the annual Livestock music festival, presented by Squaw Creek Cattle Co., Friday to Sunday, Aug. 13-15, 352 Keystone Rd.
Free camping, activities and limited concessions will be available during the three-day event.
Tickets are $3 Friday, $10 Saturday, and $5 Sunday; 17 and under are free, but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

County Republicans to be busy on primary day Sept. 14; Dems only choosing one
Republicans in St. Lawrence County have several primary contests coming up Sept. 14, while Democrats are only choosing a candidate in the state’s 47th Senate District on Primary Day.
Democrats have two candidates to choose from in the race to unseat Sen. Joe Griffo. Maria Pavelock of Clinton is in the running along with Oneida County Legislator Michael J. Hennessy.
Traffic Jam performs, ice cream served at Massena concert in the park Thursday
MASSENA – Traffic Jam will take the stage this Thursday evening as the next featured performance in the Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce Concert in the Park series season, and the audience will be treated to some ice cream.
This concert will be held at a special time from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Springs Park Amphitheater, W. Hatfield St., Massena. In the event of rain, concerts will be relocated to the Massena Fire Station, Andrews Street.
The Winter Carnival Committee of the Massena Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a free ice cream social at this event.
Music dinner theater night to benefit Cpl. Howell in Norwood Aug. 12
NORWOOD – A Music Dinner Theatre night will be held to benefit Cpl. Aaron Howell, a U.S. Marine Corps. Wounded Warrior from Parishville, at the Lobster House, Rt. 56, Thursday, Aug. 12 beginning at 5 p.m.
The cost per person is $35, and includes a choice of four entrees and an evening of music provided by Crescent Street Jam, Minor Swing, Canton Barbershop Quartet, and For Heaven’s Sake ladies barbershop quartet.

Azlynne Williams is 16 years old with a twin brother Zach and an 18-year-old brother Jesse. Azzy was born with neurofibromatosis, a rare disease that results in tumors of the nerves and different parts of the body. There is no cure for this disease. She has “café-latté” brown spots over her body which can become tumors at any time. Azzy is 4’10” and will remain so.
For three years Azzy has needed a transplant of the small intestine which had a tumor the size of a grapefruit. On April 22, Georgetown University Hospital in D.C. had her organ!

A Clinton Democrat running for Sen. Joe Griffo's seat is accusing her Democratic primary rival of spreading falsehoods and not focusing on the issues.
Maria Pavelock says Oneida County Legislator Michael J. Hennessy, “grasping at straws and in desperation,” has accused her wrongly of being afraid to debate him.

Training Champions for God vacation Bible school set for Aug. 12-14 in Ogdensburg
OGDENSBURG – Vacation Bible School - Training Champions for God will be held at Grace Covenant Church, 7 Laboda Lane, on Thursday through Saturday, Aug. 12-14.
The school will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
