MADRID -- Sweet Adelines Acapella North Chorus’s annual show at Madrid-Waddington High School auditorium is at 7 p.m. Oct. 1.
The how is called “At the Copa” filled with songs you'll recognize and be singing along with.
Quartets Meta4 and Here and Now, will be performing.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or you can contact any member of the chorus. Prices are $10 general admission and $8 for seniors/students.
Hermon Ladies Auxiliary host chicken and biscuit dinner Saturday
HERMON – The Hermon Ladies Auxiliary will host a chicken and biscuit dinner at the new Hermon Fire Hall Saturday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m.
Cost is $6 adults, $3 children ages 3-12 and free for children under 3.

Free mammograms to be offered in Ogdensburg, Potsdam
Free mammograms in Ogdensburg and Potsdam are part of the Cancer Services Program of St. Lawrence County’s “going pink” effort for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Canton Potsdam Hospital and St. Lawrence County want to raise awareness of breast cancer and increase the capacity of effective breast health programs in the county.
St. Lawrence County ”Goes Pink” featured events include Kick Off Day, Oct. 5 at 9 a.m. in the Human Services Building first-floor lobby at 80 State Rt. 310 in Canton.
North Country Regional Economic Development Council to hold workshop Oct. 5 on applying for state funding
The North Country Regional Economic Development Council is holding several Consolidated Funding Application workshops for guidance in applying for funds under the Regional Economic Development Council process.
The workshop nearest us is at the Dulles State Office Building, 317 Washington St., Watertown, in 11th-floor conference room 3, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5.

EDWARDS – Comedian and Bob and Tom Radio Show regular Tim Bedore is coming to the Edwards Opera House Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
Bedore has become widely known for his weekly appearances on “The Bob and
Tom Radio Show,” where he performs segments from his “Vague, But True” collection and “An Inconvenient Horror – The Animal Conspiracy.”
In addition to his weekly feature on “The Bob and Tom Show,” Tim has performed his stand up routines on Comedy Central, Fox Comic Strip Live, A&E, and HBO, and has provided commentary for NPR’s “Marketplace.”
'Fall FunFest' in Potsdam Saturday to benefit Potsdam Building Blocks Day Care and Potsdam Humane Society
POTSDAM – Potsdam Building Blocks Day Care is planning a “Fall FunFest” Oct. 1 from noon to 6 p.m. at Pine Street Arena.
Featured will be face painting, disc jockey Chris Benware, magician Richard Tenace, a bouncy house, games, prizes a Purina Incredible Dog Show, Cinderella, Spiderman and the Cat in the Hat.
Finger-painting and picture IDs will be provided by the Freemasons.
All proceeds will benefit the day care center and the Potsdam Humane Society.
5k Walk/Run in Hammond Oct. 1 to benefit AIDS Community Resource
HAMMOND – A 5k Walk/Run sponsored by the Hammond Presbyterian Church will be held Saturday, Oct. 1 at 9 a.m., with registration beginning at 8 a.m.
The cost to register is $10.
Registration forms are also available at Ned’s Store.
T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 50 to register.
All proceeds will benefit AIDS Community Resource.
SUNY Potsdam volleyball blanks Canton, 3-0
POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam volleyball team (11-8) swept past SUNY Canton (9-7), 3-0, on Wednesday night.
The Bears wore down the Kangaroos in each of the three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-20. Samantha Strader posted a season-high 15 kills to lead the attack. Dakota Pruiss contributed six kills and five digs and Liza Fields added six aces. Jenna Blujus finished the night with two aces, six digs and 26 assists.
SUNY Canton's Richardson named USCAA Runner of the Week
(Canton, N.Y.)- Junior Justin Richardson (Pavilion, N.Y.) has been named the USCAA Runner of the Week in men's cross country.
Richardson earned the award after winning the individual title and leading the Roos to the team title at the Mountaineer Invitational at Southern Vermont College on Sept. 24.
