will be held on Monday, November 21, at 1 p.m. with full military
honors in Calvary Cemetery, Massena with Rev. J. Michael Gaffney presiding.
Fred died Sunday evening, November 13, surrounded by his loving family
at the Massena Memorial Hospital.

Carol A. Weaver, 69, of 811 North Lamont Circle, Cortland, NY, formerly of Potsdam, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 3, 1942 in Potsdam, NY, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Florence Kerr Kent. She attended Potsdam High School School and relocated to the area in 1966.

Fr. Roland George Gonyo, 64, died at 8 a.m., November 16, 2011 at Claxton-Hepburn Hospital, Ogdensburg, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 19, 2011, 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, West Chazy with the Most Reverent Terry R. LaValley, Bishop of Ogdensburg, presiding, and the priests of the diocese concelebrating. The homilist will be Msgr. John Murphy, pastor of the Church of the Visitation, Norfolk, NY. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Chazy, following the Liturgy.

'Occupy Potsdam' demonstration set for Saturday

POTSDAM – Students and other community members supporting the Occupy Wall Street movement will hold another Occupy Potsdam demonstration tomorrow.
This is Occupy Potsdam’s second event supporting the larger international movement..
Saturday’s march will begin at 11 a.m. in Ives Park in support of the movement and to protest the eviction of the Occupy Wall Street peaceful protesters from Zuccotti Park in New York City’s Wall Street neighborhood.

Holiday vendor fair at Waddington American Legion Saturday

WADDINGTON – A Holiday Vendor Fair will be held Saturday Nov. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Legion in Waddington.
Proceeds will help provide toys to area children this holiday season.
There will be many local vendors, a 50/50 raffle, and silent auction.

The Laurentian Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club has announced the winners of their Third Annual Photo Contest at their annual meeting Nov. 6.
Award winners were: Action, "Misty Lake Kayaker," by Toni Towle, Lyndhurst, Ontario; ADK Service, "Tom Ortmeyer on Stone Valley Trail Crew," taken by John Barron, Ottawa, Ontario; People, “Charleston Lake June 2011,” Toni Towle; and Scenic, “Algonquin Summit,” taken by Mike McLean, Colton.

St. Regis Falls’ Sara Artis, Clarkson varsity volleyballer, picked as All-American

POTSDAM – A Clarkson University varsity volleyball player from St. Regis Falls is among those chosen by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for All-American status.
Senior Sara Artus was informed Tuesday that she had been chosen as a third-team All-American. This is the third time she has been chosen as a volleyball All-American.
