Senators Ritchie, Griffo praising new state fines, jail times for retailers selling and possessing synthetic drugs

New regulations issued today by the state Department of Health and approved by the Public Health and Planning Council will make it more difficult for manufacturers and sellers of synthetic recreational drugs to operate.
The new rules will expand the existing list of prohibited drugs and chemicals to include dozens more substances that are used to make synthetic drugs like bath salts and synthetic marijuana. The addition of these prohibited substances is aimed at making it more difficult for manufacturers to simply modify the chemicals used to make the drugs to avoid prosecution.

ALBANY -- The College of Saint Rose in Albany, today announced that the following local residents were among 794 students named to the Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester:
Cassandra Miller of Massena, Charrette Spooner of Ogdensburg, and Memoli Ward Massena.
Full-time students who complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and achieve a semester grade-point average of at least 3.5 with no grades of D, F, Incomplete or Pass/Fail are eligible for inclusion on the Dean's List.
