PARISHVILLE – A Sunday morning breakfast will be held at the Weller Mountain Lodge, off Joe Indian Road, Feb. 26 from 8 to 11 a.m.
The cost is $6 for all you can eat.
Come spend a day in the snow with friends and good food. Bring your skis, snowshoes or sleds.

Lady Golden Knights earn home ice for quarterfinal round, host Quinnipiac this weekend

Winners of seven of its last eight games, the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team will look to continue its late season surge into the postseason as the Golden Knights open up the ECAC Hockey playoffs by hosting Quinnipiac. The Knights, guided by fourth-year co-head coaches Matt and Shannon Desrosiers, and assistant coach Matt Kelly, will battle the Bobcats in a best-of-three-game quarterfinal series at Cheel Arena this weekend. Friday's game is a 7:00 p.m. faceoff and Saturday's contest is slated for a 4:00 p.m. start. If necessary, the two ECAC rivals will play on Sunday at 4:00 p.m.

Bears men's hockey Nutkevitch, Ware earn All-SUNYAC recognition

POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam hockey players Sy Nutkevitch and Erick Ware have earned All-State University of New York Athletic Conference honors. Nutkevitch has been named to the second team, while Ware earned a spot on the third team.

Day 1 Prelims Complete at States; Abribat of Saints swim team breaks University record

Six individuals and three relay teams advanced to finals in the first day of the UNYSCSA Championships hosted by Nazareth College. Leading the way for the Saints was junior Casey Abribat who set a new University record in the 200 IM with her time of 2:12.94.
Abribat, who earned eighth place in the prelim, bested her own time of 2.13.66 which she set at last year's state meet.

Richard J. Gero, 87, formerly of Chase Mills

Funeral services for 87 year old Richard J. Gero, a resident of the Highland Nursing Home, Massena, and formerly of Chase Mills, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Visitation in Norfolk with Rev. Andrew Amyot presiding. A spring burial will be held in the Visitation Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. Mr. Gero passed away Tuesday evening at the Highland Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.
Veronica LaBarge, 93, formerly of Massena

Veronica LaBarge, 93, formerly of Massena and Malone, where she resided with her daughter and son in-law Patty and Lyle Fournier for 15 years, passed away on Feb. 21, 2012 at the St. Regis Nursing Home.
Veronica was born on October 21, 1918 in Hungary the daughter of Steve and Florence (Ferency) Jacobs. She married Everett LaBarge on August 31, 1940 at St. Mary's Church in Massena. Mr. LaBarge predeceased her in 1978. Veronica at one time was a waitress at the Village Inn and also at the Highland Hotel.

A memorial service for Gloria J. (Gemmill) Walrath, age 64, of 602 Rensselaer Avenue, Ogdensburg, will be held on Friday, February 24 at Frary Funeral Home, 515 Caroline Street, Ogdensburg at 5:00 p.m. with Raymond Gemmill officiating. Friends may call beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the time that the service begins. A burial at Notre Dame Cemetery will take place in the spring.
Ms. Walrath passed away at home in the arms of her daughters on February 21, 2012 after a battle with leukemia.
