Grace Presbyterian Church in Lisbon to hold 55th anniversary luncheon today

LISBON – Grace Presbyterian Church, 6671 County Route 10, will hold its 55th anniversary and discussion Nov. 3 at 11:30 a.m.

Flu vaccine clinics will be offered across Northern New York in November.
Flu shots will be $30 and pneumonia shots are $75.
Bring your Medicare card to the clinic.
The schedule is as follows:
• Nov. 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the community center, 61 Beach St., Massena.
• Nov. 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Canton Human Services Center, 80 State Hwy. 310, Canton.
• Nov. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Riverview Towers, 206 Ford St., Ogdensburg, third floor of Blevins building.

Italian dinner to be held at Parishville Fireman’s Hall Nov. 4

PARISHVILLE -- The Parishville Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary will serve an italian dinner Nov. 4, at the Parishville Firemen’s Hall from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The menu will include spaghetti, lasagna, meatballs, sausage, Italian bread, tossed salad, beverages and assorted desserts.
Prices are $7 for adults, $6 for senior citizens kids six to 12 years old, and kids under five year and adults over 90 years old eat free.

Roos women's hockey falls 4-2 to Stevenson in season opener

Reisterstown, MD – The SUNY Canton women's hockey team got an early lead but was outscored 3-1 in the final period en route to a 4-2 road loss in the season opener for both teams against host Stevenson University on Saturday evening.
Abbey Diabo (Kahnawake, QUE) got the scoring started just 4:44 into the first period on an unassisted marker. The Mustangs would knot the game at one apiece 3:56 into the second frame when Madison Lange found the back of the net off a pass from Megan Alexander.

Leach Nets Lone Goal in Roos Loss to Skidmore in Lake Placid

Lake Placid, NY – Kristian Leach (Indianapolis, IN) scored the lone SUNY Canton goal as the men's ice hockey team fell, 11-1, in a neutral site contest to Skidmore College at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid. The Roos fall to 0-1-1, while the Thoroughbreds improve to 1-0-0.

Bears women's hockey re-open's Maxcy with a win

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's hockey team (1-0) raced out to a 3-0 lead in front of an excited crowd at newly renovated Maxcy Ice Arena and held off Saint Michael's College (0-1) for 4-3 win on Saturday afternoon. Senior captain Brittany Lucky (Kanata, Ontario/Ottawa Senators) recorded three assists to lead the Bears.

Bears men's hockey fall to Nor'easters in return to Maxcy

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The University of New England (1-0-1) scored five unanswered goals to pull away from the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (0-2) for a 6-3 win in front of a sell out crowd in Maxcy Hall on Saturday night. Senior forward Adam Place (Scarborough, Ontario/Bowmansville Eagles) led the Bears with a goal and an assist, while junior assistant captain Zeth Zielinski (Woonsocket, R.I./New England Huskies) paced the Nor'easters with two goals and an assist.

Potsdam bounced from mrn's soccer playoffs after successful run

It was one giant step forward for the SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team. But the Bears finally concluded one of the program's most successful seasons with a 4-1 elimination loss at Brockport in the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
Not since 1983 had the Bears won this many matches in program history.
Potsdam finished with a 9-9-1 overall mark to tied the school's mark for most wins in a single season.

Saints women's hockey roll past Brown 5-1 for weekend sweep

First-year student Alex Moore scored two goals while senior Mel Desrochers added a goal and two assists as the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team defeated Brown University 5-1 at Appleton Arena on Saturday afternoon. The win completes a weekend sweep for the Saints after outshooting the Bears by a 33-18 margin.
St. Lawrence (4-6, 3-1) also had multi-point efforts from senior captain Rylee Smith (3a), sophomore Abbey McRae (1g,1a) and rookie Brooke Webster (1g,1a). Brown falls to 1-2-1 (0-1-1), with Ariana Rucker scoring the lone goal for the Bears.
