Potsdam Hospital Guild sponsors Clarkson Men's Hockey Night Feb. 17
POTSDAM -- Everyone is welcome to have some good food and watch a good Division I game to benefit Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
The Potsdam Hospital Guild sponsors Clarkson Men's Hockey Night Friday, Feb. 17 at the Golden Knights’ game against Cornell at Cheel Arena.
There is also an Italian dinner buffet before the game.
Game tickets can be purchased for $13 through any guild member or by calling 212-0027
The puck drops at 7 p.m.

I-98 needed for future economic stability

There appears to be misconceptions by some people regarding the inappropriate use of federal funds by the NYSDOT Region 7 that are intended to be used for an environmental impact study of an interstate highway.
There is no question that Senators Schumer and Clinton as well as Congressman John McHugh intended this money to be used in the initial design and environmental study for I-98.
Re: “Help American Vehicles,” Sound Off, Feb. 1-7, My Toyota Corolla was assembled in the U.S.A. with parts from here, Canada, and Japan. Many “non-American” vehicles that you refer to are built here in this country. What a ridiculous statement to make. What makes people “better Americans”? The car they drive? Your statement about U.S. Rt. 11 and Interstate 81 is even more absurd than your car statement. Personally, I don’t want anyone like you helping me out at any time for any reason.
Clean up your own house
As a life-long citizen of this community with four beautiful daughters, I find Bishop LaValley’s as well as the Catholic Church’s position on the implementation of the provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to be laughable and hypocritical at best, and deplorable at worst.
Potsdam's Aeon Heating and Air Conditioning wins state award for performance in Energy Star program
POTSDAM – Aeon Heating and Air Conditioning, Potsdam, has won the North Country regional award from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) for excellence in customer service and high-quality work through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program.
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR uses a “whole-house” assessment to reduce home energy use. Homeowners work with a participating contractor trained in building science and accredited by the Building Performance Institute (BPI).
More than 20 local residents make Dean's list at St. Lawrence University
CANTON -- The following students have been selected for inclusion on the Dean's List for academic achievement during the fall 2011 semester at St. Lawrence University.
To be eligible for the Dean's List at St. Lawrence University, a student must have completed at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6 (based on a perfect 4.0 scale) for the semester.

Canton Winterfest Twilight Sledding canceled for lack of snow
CANTON – Twilight Sledding that was scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17 at SUNY Canton has been cancelled because of the lack of snow and the college closure until Feb. 20.
The Canton Winterfest event, which has become an annual favorite, had already been pushed back a week from Feb. 10 due to a lack of snow in hopes more snow would make it possible this Friday.
Diabetes support group Thursday at Claxton-Hepburn in Ogdensburg
OGDENSBURG – A Diabetes support group will meet Thursday, Feb, 16, at 4 p.m., in the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center auditorium.
Karen Cole, RN, BSN, Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), will be facilitating a free diabetes support group.
An open forum for diabetes related discussion will be held.

Matt Dupra of Fort Covington was recently fishing at the Massena Power Dam and caught a 42 inch, 17 pound sturgeon. The fish was released without harm.
