St. Lawrence County school budget votes Tuesday; here's district-by-district information

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday, May 17, to vote on budgets, elections and propositions at all St. Lawrence County schools.
Below is a summary by district of budget information, special propositions and school board candidates.

Akwesasne officials report 15 new positive cases of COVID-19

AKWESASNE – The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s COVID-19 Response Team reported 14 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the southern portion of Akwesasne from May 10-13. There are 12 active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction.
The active cases include two toddlers between the age of 0 to 4-years old, and two teenagers.
COVID-19 TESTING CLINIC -- MONDAYS:
COVID-19 PCR Testing is available on Mondays from 9 a.m. to noon at Health Service’s testing garage located at 404 State Route 37. Please use the gravel road across from McGee Road.

SLC Arts offers development workshop for artists

POTSDAM — The St. Lawrence County Arts Council (SLC Arts) presents a free professional development workshop for artists, on Wednesday, May 18, 5:30 p.m. at Potsdam Town Hall, 18 Elm St.
In this class, Jennifer McCluskey, owner of McCluskey Photography LLC, will teach participants to photograph their work using both natural light and lighting equipment.

OGDENSBURG — The Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce’s annual city-wide garage sales are scheduled for Friday, May 27, Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29.
These city-wide garage sales have attracted customers from all over St. Lawrence County and as far away as Ottawa.
This is a great opportunity for you to clear out the clutter and make some extra money, the chamber said.

Don, 90, passed away on March 27, 2022.

Mrs. Prashaw passed away on March 30, 2022.

Barry E. Newcombe, 71, Massena

MASSENA — Barry E. Newcombe, 71, formerly of Massena, peacefully passed away on May 14, 2022 at his daughter’s home while under the care of Hospice.
Barry was born on April 12, 1951 in Potsdam, New York, the son of the late Irving and Alice (Miller) Newcombe.
He attended Norwood-Norfolk Central School.
Barry married Deborah Warriner in June of 1972, the marriage later ended in divorce.
He later had a companion of several years, Tina Lawrence.
Barry worked construction as a Laborer for the Local #420 for many years and also repaired small electronics.
