CANTON -- The Zonta Club of Canton is accepting applications for 2012 scholarships from students attending Canton, Norwood-Norfolk, Madrid-Waddington, Potsdam, Colton-Pierrepont, Parishville-Hopkinton and Edwards-Knox high schools and single parents at SUNY Canton.
Applications are available at school guidance offices or by contacting Penny Pitts at 38 Goodrich St., Canton, NY 13617, ppitts1@twcny.rr.com or 379-0977.
Awards include $350 for outstanding community service with academic achievement not a factor; $350 fora graduating senior with a distinguished academic record; $300 to a female senior entering a four-year college and majoring in policy making, government or a volunteer organization; $350 for good leadership skills and dedication to service; and $500 to a single parent enrolled at SUNY Canton with a goal of and progress toward earning a college degree.
Twelve $5,000 scholarships open to women around the world for the third or fourth year of study in an accredited business degree program will also be awarded by Zonta.
Deadlines range from March 31 to May 31, depending on scholarship.
