COLTON – A wood stove has been listed as the cause of a fire that destroyed a barn on the Gulf Road early this morning.
Colton firefighters responded at 6:10 a.m. today to the property owned by Stanley and Nancy Francis a 333 Gulf Road.
St. Lawrence County fire investigators have declared the structure as a total loss and the fire accidental.
Also responding were the Colton Rescue Squad, the Pierrepont and Parishville fire departments and the Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad, fire investigators said. The Hannawa Falls Volunteer Fire Department was on standby.
Colton firefighters returned to the station at 8:29 a.m.
The building was insured and National Grid was notified of the blaze, investigators said.
