FORT COVINGTON - On Friday, July 16, at approximately 10:27 p.m., New York State Police responded to a report of a one-car crash on State Route 37 near Flat Rock Road in the town of Westville.

On scene, troopers found a 2008 Ford Fusion completely disabled from striking two mailboxes. The operator, 59-year-old Melinda A. Stevens of Fort Covington, was subsequently arrested for DWAI-drugs. She was also found in possession of clonazepam, which she did not have a prescription for.

Stevens was charged with DWAI-drugs and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was released on tickets returnable to the Town of Westville Court.
