A winter weather advisory has been issued for St. Lawrence County from 1 p.m. today through 4 p.m. Sunday as a snowstorm is expected to drop 3-7 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow may be possible during the day on Sunday, forecasters say.

Snowfall may be locally heavy at times, especially between 4 p.m. today and 1 a.m. Sunday, the service says. At times, snowfall rates may exceed 1 inch per hour in the heaviest bands.

A high today of 20 is expected with wind chill values of -2, NWS says. Temps will rise to around 30 by 4 a.m., the service says.

Snow showers continues on Sunday with temperatures falling to around 15 by 9 a.m., forecasters predict.

The forecast through Friday are as follows:

Snow showers. Temperature falling to around 15 by 9am. West wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

A 40 percent chance of snow showers before 8pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 4. Wind chill values as low as -4. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
