Several inches of snow have fallen this morning, and the National Weather Service is keeping its winter storm warning in effect for St. Lawrence County until 7 a.m. Thursday.
Meanwhile the NWS says two more storm systems could affect us in the next week.
With this storm closing in, all schools in the county declared today a snow day, canceling classes, sporting events, and other after-school activities.
The forecasters say the snow will taper off somewhat this afternoon, with light to moderate snowfalls expected through tonight.
They warn travelers that falling and blowing snow will reduce visibility. Winds are expected to be from the northeast at 5 to 15 mph with gusts to 35.
High temperatures are expected to reach near 20 today before falling off to the single digits tonight.
We might see some sun tomorrow, with a high of about 22. Clouds are expected to move in tomorrow night with lows in the teens.
The chance of snow continues Friday and through the weekend with highs in the low 30s and lows in the teens.
The NWS says two more storm systems are following this one and could bring more snow, the first on Saturday and Saturday night, the second on Tuesday, but no firm predictions are being made.
