Wind advisory issued for southern St. Lawrence County

The National Weather Service has issued a winds advisory for the southern part of St. Lawrence County.

South winds are expected to increase Wednesday morning into Wednesday afternoon in southern St. Lawrence County.

Sustained winds between 20 to 35 mph are expected, with a gusts of 50 mph across the northern Adirondack region and the communities of South Colton, Star Lake, Ogdensburg, Potsdam and Gouverneur, the National Weather Service predicts.

Gusty winds may knock over loose objects, and downed trees may result in a isolated power outages as well. The weather is predicted to bring rains as well.

The winds are expected to hit between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Strongest winds will occur Wednesday morning before the rain starts and again briefly Wednesday evening after the rain ends.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.

Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Local residents are advised to use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle and secure outdoor objects.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Light east wind becoming southeast 8 to 13 mph in the evening.

Rain, mainly after 8am. High near 49. Breezy, with a south wind 13 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Rain and snow showers likely before 9pm, then a slight chance of snow showers between 9pm and 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Breezy, with a southwest wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
