Sled Extravaganza

COLTON: St. Lawrence County Snowmobile Association (SLCSA) is celebrating its 45th Anniversary Extravaganza with a ride-in barbeque and antique sled show at Racquette Valley Fish and Game, 233 Cold Brook Drive on Trail 8E, starting at noon; chicken barbeque for $10, hot dogs and hamburgers, DJ, 50/50 raffle, lottery tree raffle, and Chinese raffle, NYSSA raffle tickets, and a short presentation and pictures at 1 p.m. with special elected official guests; Colton Fire Department Rescue display, antique sled show, bonfire, tubing on the hill, and snowmobiles set up on a track with cones.

Warrior Fest

POTSDAM: Clarkson University will host the fifth annual Warrior Fest, 3-5 p.m., to celebrate and support the contributions of veterans in the North Country; open to the public and family friendly; will feature several raffles and giveaways, a sled hockey match between the Fort Drum Mountain Wounded Warriors and the Kingston (Ontario) Knights and a “Skate with a Warrior,” puck drops 3 p.m. in Cheel Arena; sled hockey game will be preceded by the regular Fort Drum Mountaineers hockey team playing a group of North Country Veterans at 1:15 p.m.; cost per person over the age of 12 is $5, and children under 12 are free; family packs are available for $10; first 200 tickets sold will include a free hot dog and popcorn.

Ski for beginners

MASSENA: Free ski lessons for beginners, including rental gear; 1-2 p.m.; Nicandri Nature Center, 19 Robinson Bay Rd. For more info: 315-705-5022.

Vintage snowmobile races

EDWARDS: The Edwards Lions Club and ADK Outlaws Vintage Oval Track Racers sponsor Vintage Snowmobile Races, registration at 10 a.m. at the Edwards Lions field on Hall Road; events starts at noon; food will be served; dress for the weather.

Teddy Bear Toss

POTSDAM: 7th annual Teddy Bear Toss at the Clarkson Men’s Hockey Game vs. Dartmouth, 7 p.m. in Cheel Arena, sponsored by CU Physician Assistant Student Society. Free admission to fans who bring a new stuffed toy or buy one at the arena for $5. All bears donated to children in local hospitals.

Intermediate ski lessons

MASSENA: Free intermediate ski lessons, including rental gear; 3-4 p.m.; Nicandri Nature Center, 19 Robinson Bay Rd. For more info: 315-705-5022.

Freezin’ for a Reason

NORTH LAWRENCE: 3rd annual Freezin’ for a Reason snowmobile race fundraiser for Lawrenceville Fire Dept. and Gouverneur Breast Cancer Fund; 11 a.m. registration, 1 p.m. race begins; new this year is cornhole tournament; Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Dept., 1081 Co. Sled ride-in

COLTON: The St. Lawrence County Snowmobile Association will host its 45th Anniversary Ride-In, noon-5 p.m. starting from the Racquette Valley Fish and Game Club, 233 Coldbrook Dr., right on corridor trail 8E. There will be an antique sled show, chicken BBQ, Chinese raffle, 50/50 raffle, tubing on the hill and beginner snowmobile rides on the track. Proceeds from the even will help pay for a new trail paver drag.

Poker run

TRI-TOWN: Snowmobile poker run, rain or shine/snow or mud; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; stops at American Legion, Brushton; Riverview Restaurant, Brasher; High Peaks Winery, Winthrop; Cedar View, Helena; The Jug, North Lawrence; American Legion, Winthrop and ending at The Pit Stop Diner, North Lawrence; chinese raffle at the Pit Stop to benefit North Lawrence Recreation.

Ice fishing tourney

ST. REGIS FALLS: Alexander MacDonald Fish and Game Club open boundary ice fishing tournament. Registration $25 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under at St. Regis Falls Sportsmen's Club, Red Tavern Road. Cash prizes. Weigh-ins 3 to 5 p.m. at SRF Club.
