Water levels to drop at Higley reservoir, Hannawa Falls reservoir beginning Sept. 15, 16

Brookfield Renewable Power will soon lower water levels at the Higley reservoir and the Hannawa Falls reservoir.

The Higley reservoir water level will start falling slowly on Wednesday, Sept. 15 until the water elevation is about three-and-a-half feet below normal by Thursday afternoon, Sept. 16. The reservoir will begin refilling on Sunday, Sept. 19 and continue until it is full by Monday, Sept. 20.

The Hannawa Falls reservoir water level will fall slowly starting Wednesday, Sept. 22 until the water elevation is approximately four feet below normal by Thursday, Sept. 23. The reservoir will begin refilling on Sunday, Sept. 26 and will continue until the reservoir is full.

Brookfield officials say due to the dry forecast for the Raquette River watershed the water level draw-downs may be delayed or suspended if the reservoirs cannot be refilled within a sufficient amount of time. If that happens, Brookfield said it will provide as much advance notice as possible.
