Warm front will bring temps into 40s with widespread rain tonight and Monday in St. Lawrence County

A warm front with clouds and scattered snow showers develops this afternoon across the higher summits of the North Country, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Expect highs today around 37 with a chance of snow showers and rain after 2 p.m., the service says. Winds will increase this after to 17 to 22 miles per hour.

Tonight there is a slight chance of snow or rain showers with temps rising overnight to 42 degrees, NWS says.

Brisk southerly winds bring warmer temperatures to the area through Monday, along with widespread threat for rain. Some pockets of freezing rain are possible early Monday morning, which will lead to a slippery commute, forecasters say.

Highs Monday will be around 46 with a 100% chance of rain.

After another warm day on Tuesday, much colder air returns for midweek, along with additional chances for mainly mountain snow showers.

The forecast through the weekend is as follows:

Monday

Rain, mainly after 8am. High near 46. South wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Monday Night

Rain. Low around 41. Southwest wind 11 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tuesday

Rain showers likely before 1pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 1pm and 2pm, then a chance of snow showers after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Breezy, with a southwest wind 14 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 17. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
