Waddington art gallery has several options for showcasing local artists

WADDINGTON -- The Gallery at Lake St. Lawrence Arts in Waddington, a not-for-profit corporation for artists, has several levels of support participation available to new artists.

Established and managed as a cooperative, the gallery presents a diverse array of art showcased to promote the artists’ unique talents. Whether you are a jewelry artist, an oil, watercolor or acrylic painter, a photographer, a potter, do metal or wood work or have other talents, consider becoming a member of this gallery.

There are five levels of participation in The Gallery. You can become a community supporter for an annual fee of $25, which entitles you to conduct one class with a commission of 60%-40% split with The Gallery on fees and sales from the class.

The second level is a gallery show artisan. This is a six-week individual show of an artist's works with a one-time fee of $75 (includes $25 annual membership fee). Commission is a 60%-40% split with The Gallery.

Third is an associate membership. The fee for this level is $300 per year or $175 for 6 months. This level entitles artists to display five juried pieces in the main gallery. They are also are entitled to a six-week individual show or to assist with one gallery event. Artists will be promoted by The Gallery on it’s Facebook page and website two times per year with photos of your work and an artist write-up. In this level, artists are required to work one shift in The Gallery per month. Commission on sales is 60%-40% split with The Gallery.

The Gallery also offers a full membership for $600 per year or $350 for 6 months. This level entitles you to display unlimited juried pieces in the main gallery. Artist may conduct an individual six-week show of their works, conduct classes and assist with planning at least one gallery event. In this category, artists would be promoted by The Gallery on it’s Facebook page and website four times per year with photos and artist write-up. Artists would be required to work one shift in The Gallery per month. Commission on sales is a 60%-40% split with The Gallery.

To become a gallery leader and be eligible to be on the Board of Directors, the fee is $900 per year. All of the criteria of the full membership is available to a gallery leader. A leader also can conduct all business aspects of The Gallery and serve as a jury for all accepted artists’ works. The commission for a gallery leader is a 70%-30% split.

In addition to all the above categories, all members receive a five percent discount on purchases and are eligible to attend the annual meeting.
