CANTON -- The Unitarian Universalist Church is seeking nominations for the 2011 Rachel Somers Grant award, given to recognize individuals making a difference in our community.
Grant was a teacher and activist who lived in Canton from 1977 until her death in 1990. She was involved in a variety of community groups.
Recent recipients include Phil Harnden, director of Garden Share, educator Carol Neubert, and Anne Marsh and Wade Wheelock, ministers emeritus of the Canton UU Church.
Nominations may be submitted to the Social Action Committee, Unitarian Universalist Church, 3 East Main St., Canton, NY 13617, or e-mailed to office@uucantonny.org by April 5.
