GOUVERNEUR – The New York State Police in Gouverneur, in conjunction with the Gouverneur Village Police Department, arrested Scott A. Bell Jr., 21, and Marc A. Matos, 22, both of Gouverneur, for two counts of second-degree burglary and three counts of third-degree burglary stemming from the investigation of several recent incidents in nearby communities.
These arrests stem from the two suspects forcibly gaining entry to various businesses in the towns of Gouverneur, Fine, Macomb, DeKalb and the village of Gouverneur.
While inside the buildings, the suspects stole assorted amounts of U.S. Currency, cigarettes, beer, a muzzleloader gun and other assorted merchandise.
Matos and Bell were arraigned in the town of Fowler Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of no bail.
The Village Police Department’s investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.
