CORRECTION: An earlier version of the story reported that suspect had more than 5 pounds of marijuana. In fact it was less than 5 pounds. This was due to a weighing error by customs agents which included the packaging. State police said when weighing the marijuana alone it was under five pounds reducing the charge to a misdemeanor. North Country This Week regrets the error.
MASSENA — State police have identified the woman who was arrested for having less than five pounds of pot at the Massena Port of Entry June 4.
Troopers said 45-year old Okemah Sharrow of Massena possessed less than 5 pounds of marijuana following an inspection of her vehicle by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
After processing, the narcotics and Sharrow were turned over to state police, where she was charged with third-degree inlawful possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.
