Trillium Wellness Center in Potsdam resumes in-person classes

POTSDAM — After being closed for more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Trillium Wellness Center, 42 1/2 Elm St., has resumed in-person classes.

“When COVID struck the North County, our instructors pivoted to on-line yoga classes and programs,” noted Board President Terry de la Vega, NP, CYN.

Some classes were offered for free via Facebook video, and others were available for a modest fee, via Zoom.

“We wanted to make sure our programs were as accessible as possible,” said de la Vega. “Especially during times of lock-down and isolation, the physical and spiritual benefits of a sustained yoga practice are substantial.”

Although in-person yoga and meditation classes had to be suspended, other programs at Trillium were able to safely resume within a few months. A review by the Dept. of Health allowed North Country Tai Chi to hold in person classes in the large room in the community center, simultaneously with on-line classes. One-on-one private therapeutic massage and counseling sessions were also able to resume as well.

Following all NYS health and safety guidelines, Trillium has safely re-opened for in-person yoga classes, at reduced capacity and wearing masks. Since all teachers have been fully immunized, in classes where all students have been fully immunized, students may remove their masks.
