MASSENA -- The Town of Massena will host the 2021 Major League Fishing (MLF) Bass Pro Tour Tournament.

Bass anglers will be coming to the Massena Intake in June for a week of fishing on the St. Lawrence River.

This event will commence the tournament schedule for 2021, with additional tournaments to follow throughout the angling season. The town will host this series from June 25 to 30.

“The excellent fishing in the St. Lawrence River, coupled with the interest and excitement from the Massena community will help us become the premier angling destination for MLF future events,” Town Supervisor Steve O’Shaughnessy said in a news release.

According to Don Meissner, tourism director for the Town of Massena, the partnership between the MLF and Massena is “one of tremendous opportunities for each of these organizations.”

“In 2019, Massena hosted the FLW for their Costa Series tournament. In that moment, we demonstrated what this unique fishery has to offer. We expect that this is just the beginning of great opportunities that will take place to help put Massena on the map,” he said in the release.
