MALONE -- With a new ski and snowboarding season right around the corner, Titus Mountain Family Ski Center wants people to know abut major upgrades and improvements that will be completed in time for season.

Titus has added 15 new trails on its three peaks this summer. New trails include four green (beginner), three of which are glades; six blue (intermediate) with four glades; two black diamonds (difficult) with one glade; and three double-black diamond (most difficult) glades.

Titus also now features two terrain parks, one novice and one advanced. Both are illuminated in the night skiing area.

“We have completely gutted and renovated the lodge,” said Bruce Monette, principal at Titus, “We have enlarged the bar area, expanded the patio, completely modernized the bathrooms, added more lockers, upgraded the kitchen, and converted the cafeteria to a much faster and more convenient ‘serve-by-station’ format. People will not recognize the place.”

To see a slide show of the ongoing construction visit www.titusmountain.com.

They have set their Oktoberfest for Saturday, Oct. 6, with fireworks, kids’ games, lift rides, food and beverages.

Local band Trench Town Oddities perform from 2 to 6 p.m. and DJ’s Phat and Slim take the stage from 6 to 10 p.m. Gate opens at 10 a.m. Admission is $5 for adults (12 and up), kids under 12 are free.

$1 of each ticket sold is being donated to the regional charity Adirondacks for Kids.

Brian Monette, said, “We pride ourselves as a great place to bring the family. You can drop the kids off in the morning, pick them up in the afternoon and know they are safe all day.”

Monette said the adult weekend lift ticket is $42, adult season passes are $379, and $1,139 for a family of four. Season passes have no blackout dates.

Locally owned and operated by the Monette family, Titus Mountain Family Ski Center is at 215 Johnson Road, Malone, New York, 12953. Located at the north end of the Adirondack Mountain range, its terrain faces north east, providing access to more natural snowfall. Titus Mountain is the only ski area in the Adirondack Mountains featuring night skiing. In addition to downhill skiing and snowboarding, Titus has a two-lane snow tubing park with tubing tow. XC skiing and snowshoeing can be found at the adjacent Malone Fish & Game Club.
