TikTok challenges at St. Lawrence County schools include vandalism, bullying

NORWOOD — Norwood-Norfolk Central School bathrooms were vandalized recently, according to Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank.

“We had some minor issues with our bathrooms,” he said. “Ceiling tiles, soap dispensers, and a couple of mirrors which were taken off the wall.”

Cruikshank said the damages are connected to a TikTok challenge where students video themselves breaking something in the bathroom.

“We obviously don’t have cameras in the bathrooms, so catching the vandals is more difficult,” he said. “Please, talk with your children and remind them that Flyers are proud, strong, and respectful.”

Cruikshank said the TikTok challenge does not exemplify Flyer Pride.

He said the school will do what it can to catch the vandals.

Cruikshank warned of another TikTok challenge that has been going around some North Country schools.

“This new challenge is simply deplorable,” he said.

He said a student’s name is posted with a small reward to the first person to post a video of the named student getting beat up.

“We believe that Flyers would rise above such ridiculous nonsense. This type of action will not be tolerated,” Cruikshank said.
