HAMMOND — A Hammond teen is accused of stealing a vehicle and damaging it by doing “burn-outs” on Split Rock Road near a camp, according to state police.
Troopers said they charged an unnamed 17-year old with fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief Tuesday stemming from an incident reported to police June 10.
The camp owner noticed the burnouts on his camp driveway and investigation determined that a stolen vehicle had caused the damage. Troopers said the vehicle had been abandoned in a nearby field.
The teen was cited and released on family court tickets.
