CANTON -- Thursday’s monthly meeting of the town board will be preceded by a public hearing for consideration of a local law to allow an override of the state’s set tax cap of 2 percent for the town’s 2022 budget.
The public hearing will begin at 5:45 p.m. followed by the regular board meeting at 6 p.m.
A copy of the proposed law is available on the town’s website at www.cantonny.gov or for public inspection in the town clerk’s office.
Agenda items include scheduled a public hearing on the 2022 budget, approving an escrow agreement with EDF Renewables and authorizing Town Supervisor Mary Ann Ashley to create an escrow account.
EDF Renewables has plans to construct and operate a solar energy center on the Rich Road in the town of Canton.
The project currently covers 1,500 acres with 240 megawatts of energy production capacity. The San Diego-based company is looking to be operational by 2025.
