CANTON – As part of TAUNY’s Cabin Fever Clubhouse, local knitting expert Jody Horwitz will teach basic knitting for children.
On Thursday, Jan. 5, and Thursday, Jan. 26, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Jody will lead sessions on spool knitting.
Using handmade, recycled knitting “spools,” children as young as 5 will learn to create a knitted rope.
They will work on their rope over the month, and return on the 26th to sew it into a coaster.
The two-session workshop is free for TAUNY members and $6 for non-members; all materials are provided.
On Thursday, Jan. 19, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., beginning to intermediate knitters aged 8 and older will learn how to create a headband.
Using straight needles, children will knit a band that they will complete at home.
The cost of the headband knitting class is $12 for TAUNY members and $15 for non-members, which includes the cost of materials.
Participation in all knitting classes is limited, and pre-registration is required by calling 386-4289 or emailing info@tauny.org.
