POTSDAM -- In memory of alumnus Joel Goldschein, his family, including wife Lynda and daughters Gail, Sharon and Terri, have created the Joel Goldschein ’57 Endowed Chair in Global Supply Chain Management at Clarkson University.
Goldschein is considered a supply chain management visionary long before the term “supply chain” was coined.
In 1976, he formed the Atlas Door Corporation, an innovative company that supplied rolling steel and other specialty doors at a pace previously unknown in the industry. To quote Goldschein, one reason for their success was “to treat our suppliers as partners ... and making them integral members of our team.”
In 1986, Atlas Door was sold to Masco Corporation, but Joel he remained president until he retired in 1989. He passed away in 2007.
