POTSDAM -- The SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team looks to battle more than just the two SUNYAC opponents on the schedule this weekend.

The Bears will don pink this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 15 and 16, in home matches against Fredonia and Buffalo State, to increase awareness of breast cancer as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink as a show of support for the project. Friday's game is slated for 4 p.m., and Saturday's match is set for 1 p.m.

The breast cancer initiative hits close to home for Potsdam coach Tim Moody, whose sister-in-law and cousin are survivors of the disease.

"It is imperative to bring awareness and support to such a worthy and necessary cause," Moody said. "As October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, it is only fitting that the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team and the entire campus community will again draw attention to this crusade. It affects us all."

The team will also be accepting donations at the matches, with all proceeds to benefit breast cancer research. To get involved or to make a donation, contact Tim Moody at 267-3133, or moodytr@potsdam.edu.
