POTSDAM — SUNY Potsdam President Kristin G. Esterberg is interviewing for a presidential position with a Massachusetts college.
Esterberg will visit Westfield State University in Westfield, Mass. on Thursday and Friday (April 8 and 9) to meet with the college’s various groups, committees and associations and the faculty to field questions.
The SUNY Potsdam president interviewed for the position via Zoom with the Massachusetts Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Carlos Santiago, Massachusetts Secretary of Education James Peyser, and members of the Board of Higher Education on Wednesday, April 7.
Esterberg is one of five finalists interviewing for the job of president of Westfield State.
She has served as president at SUNY Potsdam since 2014.
The president did not verify that she was looking at positions with other schools, but said the top spot in Westfield was an “opportunity.”
“The COVID pandemic has made me realize how much I miss living near my family, and so when the opportunity to interview was presented I felt a need to explore it,” Esterberg said.
“I remain deeply committed to Potsdam, our students, and our talented faculty and staff, and I am proud of our efforts,” said the president.
